Experiencing the Anamudi Peak, located in the Western Ghats of India, had me in awe as it left me speechless. The peak stands as the tallest at south of India at an astonishing height of 2695 meters. Covered within Eravikulam National Park, the walk leading up to the Peak was simply stunning. The trek through dense shola forests along with other vast stretches gave a glimpse at the region’s biodiversity which had the elusive Nilgiri tahr as well as a number of plants which could only be found there. The ‘Anamudi’ meaning temple elephant is synoymous to its deep mystique as it is both its name and its shape. The frame of the peak is surrounded by western ghat hills and Green valley’s tea plantations, while the rivers Thamirabarani and Vaigai graced the peak with their further enchanting beauty. Undoubtedly my favorite part of this location was the serene and comfortably calm aura it beholds when you reach the summit. The stillness heard from the wind gives you the chance to connect alive with nature which could only be curbed by breathtaking Kerala’s crown, which for any wanderer places the peak by far the most beautiful jewel in south Kerala.
