Planning an Agasthyarkoodam trek? This challenging yet rewarding journey to the majestic Agasthyarkoodam peak begins approximately 50 kilometers northeast of Trivandrum, situated between Trivandrum and Ponmudi, and is accessible by road. The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) provides regular bus services from both Trivandrum and Neyyatinkara to Bonacaud, the designated starting point for the agasthyarkoodam trek. The minimum duration for the agasthyarkoodam trek is three days, divided into two phases.

The initial phase of the agasthyarkoodam trek involves a roughly 20-kilometer hike from the forest checkpoint at Bonacaud to the base camp. Here, trekkers will find a basic shelter (a dormitory in need of upkeep) for an overnight stay, along with a canteen serving meals. Well-maintained bathroom facilities are available. The second phase of the agasthyarkoodam trek is a steep and tiring 10-kilometer ascent to the summit of Agasthyarkoodam, followed by the descent to Athiramalai and the subsequent return to the forest checkpoint from the Athiramalai camp the following day.

This service falls under Permit and Passes group and hence is available only for registered applicants.

  •  Foreigners are not permitted to trek Agasthyarkoodam
  •  Children below 14 years are not permitted.

Entry Pass is non-transferrable and no modification/ alteration is allowed.

Once Entry pass is issued, cancellation will be alllowed only as per provisions in GO(MS) 531/2024/F&WLD dated 20-12-2024

Amount once paid will not be refunded once ticket/entry pass is issued.

The Original photo ID (mentioned in the ticket at the time of booking) will be verified by concerned official before commencing the trekking on each day. Entry will be allowed only after successful verification.

If ticket is not issued and the amount is deducted from the bank account, there shall be no responsibility of Kerala Forest Department.

All unsuccessful transactions shall be refunded by the bank in 14 working days from the date of payment.

While availing the online ticket booking facility, Kerala Forest Department or National Informatics Centre will not be responsible or will not take any liability of whatsoever nature in respect of any loss or damage arising directly or indirectly to you due to the declining of transaction based on any of the following reasons:

  • Lack of authorization
  • Exceeding the preset limit mutually agreed by you and your bank
  • Any payment related issues arising while doing the transaction
  • Internet connectivity issues
  • Client system/browser related issues
  • Any other reason not listed above.
  • Consumption of Alcohol, Smoking and cooking is strictly prohibited in the forest area.

The participants must abide by the rules and regulations of Kerala Forest and Wild Life Department and all instructions issued by the Forest staff and guides.

Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department can initiate action against the trekkers, in case of violation of any instructions during trekking programme.

The participants must be fully aware of the risk involved in the trekking programme including attack from wild animals and health problems which may develop during trekking.
